Aaaaah, that new campaign smell. Before you start rethinking your setting, or the players find clever ways to take advantage of your "clever" houserules.
Let's look at some of the views of New Wizard City. (Art from Shaun Tan's
The Arrival)
Easily NWC's most famous landmarks, the
FOUNDER'S MONUMENT looms large just off the east coast of the island. Built to commemorate and honor the magi who helped construct the city, they are considered extremely garish and ugly by most of the citizens due to the paint job. It is rumored that the infamous Greyhawk Mafia make a sizable contribution to the maintenance and upkeep of the statues each year.
Gang wars are still a daily part of life in
FIVE POINTS, one of the impoverished neighborhoods on the south end of NWC. Here, a brutal demonstration of magic by the north end Sorcerer-Kings, who use the weaker gangs as punching bags and test subjects for their cruel magics.
CENTER STREET STATION is considered something of a neutral ground for NWC's criminal fraternities. The high visibility and relatively consistent police presence (practically unknown in the rest of the south end slums) makes this a popular meeting place for gang diplomacy.
Factories located in
THE YARD on the south end of the island have contributed a great deal to the growth of the city, but toxic effluvium has worsened quality of life for those living nearby. Spontaneous ghoul syndrome, the hex-pox, and apsychia are just a few of the tragic side effects of magical pollution.
Located on the east coast, on the north side of the river,
HOYT & CROSS is a vibrant and thriving business district. Most gangs avoid the well patrolled and clean streets, but many of those wizards involved in the criminal underworld claim that a mysterious wizard known only as Shadow Dale has laid claim to the neighborhood, and no gang has so far been willing to depose him.
Excellent stuff as always, i really like the visuals as introductions gonna have to check out the artist
