So on G+ today I put out a call for image requests from my massive art folder. While I had intended to fulfill all the requests in one post,
Scrap Princess asked for several things, and I ended up spending like an hour and a half (jesus I need to organize my image folder) and having one giant freaking post just to fulfill her request. So you guys who didn't get what you wanted, go yell at her. I'll try and put the other stuff up later, but right now I am going to BED goddamn.
GRIZZLED LADIES: Technically, grizzled refers to grey hair. However, it usually has the contextual meaning of bad ass, or tough. I tried to avoid the typical fantasy cheesecake, because, while I personally love it, as soon as you post any people get all uppity and tell you that you hate women. It was hard though, because even really butch tough women still have boobplates and bare midriffs in fantasy art most of the time.

ReplyDeleteGrizzled, heaps of these are suitable, but if you have any like "granite faced 1000 yard stare, was not going to get anywhere on her looks so took up a sword, and now 20 years later of violence, weird magics, and debauchery" ladies. There is a lack of them. Like I'm trying to round out my character portraits (I like to have a stack of printed pictures for newbie players to flick through and choose one for their character to look like) and I can find plenty of scantly glad witchs and bad ass warriors but pretty much no mean looking veterans and who are ladies. Like even when people are not doing cheese cake they still like to make the lady look hot.
Which I'm not hanging shit on, I just got lots of bearded one eyed scarred dudes and I need some bearded one eyed scarred ladies.
I'm exciting about what else you dig up for people.
Man oh man Scrap, I did what I could with grizzled, and about the best I had was old Granny Conan. I'll keep an eye out during my periodic dredging of image boards and deviantart, but don't keep your hopes up.
